No Nanowrimo For Me This Year. :(

I’ve been hoping and hoping that I might find some magical way to pull it off, but I just don’t think it’s in the cards for me this year–which is sad, because it will be the first year since 2009 that I haven’t at least attempted Nano.  (Granted most of those were failures… But I’m still riding high on last year’s win!)  But if I’m being totally honest with myself, I know there is no way that I will succeed.  There are just too many commitments, too many plates that I’m trying to juggle, and if you know me at all, you know that time-management is a skill I’ve yet to acquire–like cooking, or gardening.

So yeah.  As the rest of the writerly world gears up for Nanowrimo, I am relegating myself to the sidelines, cheering for those who are taking up the challenge.  (You go, guys!  Fighting!!)  Not to say that I won’t write if given the chance–and of course continue to edit LOG–but a full-blown month of noveling is not in my future, sadly.

I guess a post saying that I’m NOT going to be participating is kind of unnecessary, but I realized that in all of the chaos of this month I haven’t posted anything for awhile.  (Although, OMG, my last post got so popular–thank you everyone! <3)  So you get this!  I know, awesome sauce, right?

For anyone who was curious, I will be an ambassador at work this holiday season starting in November, which is part of the reason I will have no time.  It is sort of a faux-managerial position, but it DOES come with a pay raise, so that’s cool.  I’m also getting promoted to full-time with that, hence needing to adjust to this drastic upping of my schedule.  (For reference, I’m used to working about, oh, 20 hours a week, so…)  Then there’s of course the rest of the paperwork for my Korea thing to work on.  (I’m going to have a giant ulcer with KOREA written across it by the time I’m done, but I know it will be worth it in the end!)

On that front, I just had my interview with EPIK (the Korean program that actually places teachers in openings) a couple days ago.  I think it went well!  I just need to wait until they get back to me, and fix up a few things on my application, then theoretically I’m in. (Once I can collect all the paperwork, which is the thing giving me the ulcer.)  Pray for me, or sacrifice a slab of meat in my honor–I really want to get accepted!!

ANYWAY.  Good luck, Wrimos!  Write some awesome stuff, and I will be here to congratulate you on your efforts on the other side of November.
